Regions and the map filter

Narrow results to the regions you actually serve, using NUTS codes or the map.

Most companies do not bid nationwide. The region filter narrows results to the areas you can actually deliver in.

How regions work

Regions are based on NUTS, the EU's geographic coding system. A code gets more specific as it gets longer:

  • DE Germany
  • DE2 Bavaria
  • DE21 Upper Bavaria
  • DE212 Munich, city

Selecting a region matches every notice whose NUTS code starts with that prefix, so picking Bavaria includes Upper Bavaria and Munich. For the United States the same filter accepts state codes.

Using the map

The map filter lets you click regions instead of looking up codes. Pick one or several; they are combined with OR, so results come from any of the selected regions. Combined with a country filter, the country acts as the outer bound.

Ukraine can be picked as a whole country, but it has no regions: Ukrainian notices carry no NUTS codes, so a region filter never returns them.

Region on a search profile

A search profile carries its own countries and regions, and that is the better place for a lasting geographic restriction: the region gate is applied before ranking, so nothing outside your area ever reaches your match list. See Editing a search profile.

When a notice has no region

Not every notice carries a usable NUTS code. Where a buyer publishes none, we derive the region from the buyer's postal code where we can. When neither is available, the notice has no region and a region filter will not return it, so a very tight filter can hide relevant work. If you suspect that, widen to the country and use the buyer name instead.
