Since 2021 the revised Federal Act on Public Procurement (BöB) and the largely identical intercantonal agreement (IVöB) apply. They implement the WTO Government Procurement Agreement and distinguish, by contract type and buyer, between direct award, invitation procedure, and open and selective procedures. Above the treaty thresholds, an open call for tenders is the rule.
